Khadim Tall is an incredible singer from N'dar/Saint-Louis, Senegal. His album, Naatal, features violin from me, Adam Cadell, on some of the pieces, and ranges from deep Afro to raging mbalax all with Khadim's emotive, spiritual vocals soaring above. Khadim and I spent a lot of time making music together when I resided in Saint-Louis for a few months back in 2015. It was during this time that I recorded the violin parts at a local studio. We also played several wild gigs at the infamous La Flamingo by the Senegal river, audience members whipped into a frenzy of dance, calling out the names of sufi saints.

Due to the strict COVID lockdown situation in Senegal, Khadim is unable to play or to go about his usual work so he's requested I share this album on Bandcamp (due to strict anti-piracy etc laws most West African folks can't access PayPal etc making Bandcamp pretty difficult to use).

Khadim Tall est un chanteur incroyable de N'dar / Saint-Louis, au Sénégal. Son album, Naatal, présente du violon de ma part, Adam Cadell, sur certaines pièces, et va de l'afro profond au mbalax déchaîné, le tout avec la voix émotive et spirituelle de Khadim qui plane au-dessus. Khadim et moi avons passé beaucoup de temps à faire de la musique ensemble lorsque je résidais à Saint-Louis depuis quelques mois en 2015. C'est à cette époque que j'ai enregistré les parties de violon dans un studio local. Nous avons également joué plusieurs concerts à l'infâme La Flamingo au bord du fleuve Sénégal, les membres du public se sont lancés dans une frénésie de danse, appelant les noms des saints soufis.

En raison de la stricte situation de verrouillage de COVID au Sénégal, Khadim est incapable de jouer ou de vaquer à son travail habituel.Il m'a donc demandé de partager cet album sur Bandcamp (en raison des lois anti-piratage strictes, etc., la plupart des gens d'Afrique de l'Ouest ne peuvent pas accéder à PayPal, etc. rendant Bandcamp assez difficile à utiliser).
